For Pet Parents

Urgent Care is a service that allows you and your pet to receive prompt care for non-life-threatening illnesses. Bridging the gap between your primary care veterinarian and your local emergency hospital, Partner Veterinary Urgent Care can help when your veterinary office is closed or when care is needed, but a trip to the emergency hospital isn’t necessary.

If your pet is in need of urgent care, please call us at 804.206.9122 or use our online form to request an appointment. A Client Service Coordinator will call you directly to complete and confirm the appointment.

  • Upon arrival for your appointment, you and your pet will be escorted into an exam room.
  • A team member will obtain a set of vitals and any significant medical history, as well as confirm the presenting complaint.
  • Our doctor will then perform a focused assessment, which involves a focused history, exam, diagnostic testing, and treatments, all of which are centered around the presenting complaint.
  • While the goal of our focused assessment is to address the urgent problem efficiently and effectively, if significant but unrelated diseases become apparent during our exam or diagnostic testing, we will make recommendations regarding referral or follow-up.

  • A diagnostic and treatment plan will be made. The majority of our diagnostic testing will be performed in-house, so we can provide you with same-day results and recommendations for your pet’s urgent problem.
  • If specific diagnostic tests are submitted to a reference lab, those results will be made available to you and your primary care veterinarian as soon as they’re available. In most cases, our urgent care patients will be discharged home for continued care and monitoring. A team member will review all discharge instructions, medications to go home, and supplemental client education material with you.
  • Less commonly, an urgent care patient may need to be transferred for continued care with a 24-hour ER and Specialty center. We will do our best to ensure that you understand what to expect during the transfer process and that your pet is as stable as possible for transport.

We know how tough it can be to face unexpected medical expenses for your pet.

We have several options for payment:

    • Cash
    • Check
    • Visa, Mastercard and Amex
    • For qualified applicants, we also offer CareCredit and Scratchpay.

Please ask a team member for more information about these options.
